Forgotten Goddess


Head hanging low, tears staining her eyes
She sighs under the weight of frustration
Not understanding how life is unfolding

Faintly, her heart shimmers softly
With luminous light and star-stuff
Whispering for her to remember

Calling her back to her soul sweetly
Echoing her forgotten worthiness
Shining majestically under layers

A peacock, seeing not her radiant plumage
Flashes of color here and there
Knowing she's meant for far more

As she struggles to blend in, yet out of place
Numbing herself in various ways
Her heart sings the fervent melody of truth

Missing and longing for a place she's never seen
Feeling homesick for where she's never been
Driven to do something, without knowing what

Fearing vulnerability, she hides her heart
Carrying the sword of a hardened warrior
Fighting all challenges that come her way

Worn out by struggle and wretchedly lost
Hand on her heart she prays for help
Despairingly, not knowing the way

Her vision clears, seeing vulnerability as strength
She surrenders and transforms the warrior's furry
Into the patience and compassion of the guardian

Her heart softens and opens further, wider
After breaking and hardening so many times
Because she sees the purpose behind the lessons

As the shimmer in her heart begins to blaze
She courageously shakes off all doubt and fear
Releasing herself from shackles and gilded cage

With glorious possibility in her mind's eye
Strengths, gifts, and skills beyond belief
The Queen honors the Goddess within

Remembering who she is, was, and will be
Tapping into buried vaults of wisdom and knowledge
Standing fully in all of who she was born to be

Learning to Self-sooth - Part 2

As I discussed in Learning to Self-sooth – Part 1 , self-soothing is calming and centering ourselves; having tools to help us find our body/mind/heart/spirit connection; and coaching ourselves through whatever is coming our way so that we are then able to make wiser and more confident decisions that will have better outcomes. In Part 1, I also talked about an example of driving/running late, the negative thought spiral that we can begin to go down, and how a major step along my path to learning to self-sooth was discovering my breath and remembering to breathe when I thought life was throwing me a curve ball.
